戈文德野生动物保护区地处于绿意盎然的乌塔卡什区，乌塔卡什因其终年山头积雪与壮观的冰川而被认为是加瓦尔地区最美丽的城市之一。戈文德野生动物保护区建立于1955年，面积953平方公里，史瓦格罗希尼山、黑峰以及班达庞奇山在内。区内的哈基敦因其苍莽葱绿的风景举世闻名，也是许多喜爱徒步旅行探险所热爱不已的地点。保护区中的动物包括雪豹、棕熊、喜马拉雅黑熊、塔尔羊、岩羊、麝香鹿、鬣羚、虹雉、托哥巴雉、喜马拉雅山雉、哈里雉鸡和石鸡。
